Has Indian politics matured?

I hate the fact that there are only two strong Indian politicians.. one is Mayavati.. the other is Narendra Modi....

I had this false impression that the Indian politics had really matured after the last Lok Sabha elections, which were fought on the issue of development!
alas.. Hindutva and Caste politics are the only way to a sure shot victory.

I hope that Modi loses this election... But then I know how politics is :(

The more pertinent question, I believe is, how many strong leaders do we have? Modi has had his time in the sun, and should now be shown the door... I read that opinion polls have tilted a bit in favour of the Congress in Gujarat after Modi played his communal card after sensing his development plank sinking. Though a Congress CM might be equally bad, a change in regime might ensure that Modi and his accomplices-in-crime are brought to book for the 2002 pogrom. Mayawati still has time on her hands to decide whether to choose to deliver good governance or choose losing the mass support she enjoyed in the last UP elections that might still carry into the next General Elections.
Anyway, I am keen to see how The Times of India's 'Lead India' campaign shapes a leader...

Well i think that Mayawati is close to repeating a Laaloo Yadav... He was one person who had the support of the masses after years of misgovernance... Unfortunately, we know what folled for 10-15 years....
