Reservation, Politics and IIT's / IIM's

This one has been talked, written and loudly opposed by one and all....

Firstly, I am not against reservation... It has its benefits and necessities... In a society, where dalits are still raped/murdered/beaten up n what not, their social upliftment has a necessity... They need to get respectable place in the society at the higher posts. To be at a higher post, u need to be educated... So it is important to educate the socially backwards so that they can do justice to the 'higher posts' they occupy. We must realise that they are not born to clean our waste.... But was 25% not good enough??

Marwaris are OBC's in Bihar.... Brahmins are OBC's in Rajasthan.... There are many such examples... I happen to be a Marwari from Bihar. Do Marwaris need any special status anywhere in the world... There is only one answer.. NO.

Is 50% of India deprived of basics?? Should reservation not be on the basis of Income rather than Caste? At the time when India should move ahead of the old 'voter appeasing' mode, the direction is totally wrong.... The man who took India under the path of reforms is now pressing the reverse gear.... Instead of bringing in reservation on the basis on incomes and doing away with the current reservation system, the HRD ministry has done the opposite...
Some people argue that reservation on the basis of income will give businessmen a huge undue advantage. Fully agreed. But the problem here with the Tax department and not with the idea itself.

What is indeed very striking is the fact that when women;s reservation bill has not materialised in even 10 years, this one seems to be moving faster than rocket.

When there is a urgent need to get more engineering, management & medical colleges, the good ones are being forced to death... When India seems to be pulling its head above the rest in the world after 300 years, it is our own Netas and their Mandal/Kamandal politics that is trying to push India back to where the British Raj had pushed us.

I just have one phrase for the netas... F*** yourself. Its high time that we stop begging. Rise to the occasion and use whatever media u can to stop this kind of rascalism from harming both our country and us.

Here are the links that you can use.... the other online forums I guess aren't as effective...
write to the PM : http://pmindia.nic.in/write.htm
write to the President: http://presidentofindia.nic.in/scripts/writetopresident.jsp

One last line for the politicians like Arjun Singh... Next time you have a poster shoot for the election.... get your ass on the poster not your face...

grr8 piece kd..it shows ur concern towards the society. i'd like to believe u represent the general sentiment of all those who have achieved something after having worked their ass out.
let ppl learn life the hard way...give them financial aid, motivate them to study, give them free education upto high school level, still if they r not gd enuff...let them carve their own niche in this big bad world...why spoonfeed them...why should the reputation of our top institutes and hence the nation suffer?
i dont a doctor passed out from AIIMS diagnose like our very own MMSTs...and i m sure nor do our very educated PM n HRD minister...but this isnt going to fetch them ne votes na...
at this point,we can appeal and hope tht some sense prevails...

Good work done dear. Its something expected frm a person like u. But do u not think that even income based reservation is difficult. One can very easily fake the income as is done here at MCM and thus avail of the reservation. Let this reservation stuff be encouraged at the primary & secondary level. Educate them sufficiently and prepare them in a better way so that they can get themselves to get admitted in these highly reputed colleges and I hope this will serve both the causes. Provide them basic eminities and greater compensation and maintain the sancity of these great institutes so that their importance and glory is maintained. To conclude real good work done by a very good & concerned person. May it open the minds of the people at the higher echeleons.

Cheers !!!!!

Yes bipul and rajeev, i guess u have put it much better than I have.

there should be free primary eduaction for all, and then let the best out of this lot get into the IIT's/IIM's

As far as the faking of income goes, I did write a line on it. I believe that the problem here is with the implementation and not with the basic philosophy behind the idea. I do agree that the business people do show less incomes and easily get the scholarships, but again, the problem is with the tax Dept. They need to be a lot more transparent. It cannot be made transparent without removing corruption.. This again is a long debatable issue...

Isn't just fascinating how every one raises their voice when faced with insecurity.

Everyone just wants to carry on with their lives and do this and that get so much money for this and that and establish themselves.

The fact is no one ever cares and no one gives a shit to them (not saying that we should).

Where is the talk about improving secandary and primary education.
Before is issue broke out?
Just because it threatens out status quo we feel so insecure

I think that it is because of the fact that no one gives a shit to them (congress in the last 50 yrs' rule and BJP with its we dont care attitude) that parties like Bahujan samajwadi Party that have done so well in the recent elections. The trust that the people of the weaker section have put in the governments has been broken by one and all.
I think that there are many people who work for them, but given the size of india and the mentality of people that the weaker section is born to scavange human excreta, it will take another 25 years and beyond to totally get rid of this mentality.

YUP, I totally agree with you.
I understand that there is a need for the upliftment of the backwards but all that Arjun Singh's 78 year old , primitive cerebrum can think of is reservation.... it could have been ridiculous had it not been so pathetic.
